![]() Here are the movies made by the middle school class. ![]() ![]() The pop beads are worth the expense if you’re teaching a group but if you’re doing this with just one or two kids you could use pipe cleaners for the chromatids and a bead for a centromere (middle part where the sister chromatids are attached). I started class by showing a video on mitosis by the Amoeba Sisters: And this video of real cells going through mitosis: Finished up with Mr. We didn’t make the flip books, just used the images to guide the students in making their movies. C to use as a story board for their movie. I gave each group a copy of the Mitosis Flip Book by Mrs. The main activity for this class is creating a stop motion movie using DNA Pop beads for chromosomes and magnetic centromeres. (I actually bought it as part of the Life Science & Biology bundle but you can buy it individually.) The page shown lifts up and the page beneath it has places to write about each stage of mitosis. Students put together an interactive notebook page on mitosis from Mel & Gerdy’s Cells Organelles & Processes interactive notebook Activity Pack that I bought on teacherpayteachers.
